At IMTS 2012, Toshiba Machine will feature its updated TUE Series Vertical Turning Lathes. With table diameters up to 2,000 mm (78.7”) and an optional live spindle, TUE Series machines are suitable for a range of large machining applications including jet engine and rocket components, turbine components and casings, natural gas fracturing (fracking) components and oilfield and construction equipment. The TUE Series Vertical Turning Lathes are rigid box-type single column machines, and the new uni-body crossrail is designed to improve rigidity by 50% over previous TUE models. Cutting forces absorbed by the ram are transferred efficiently through this crossrail. Maximum table speeds have also been increased over previous TUE Models. The TUE-150 features a table diameter of 1,450 mm (57.1”) and has a maximum table speed of 400 RPM. The larger TUE- 200 has a table diameter of 2,000 mm (78.7”) and can turn up to 250 RPM. TUE-(S) models are equipped with 50-taper, 3,000 RPM live spindles. Coupled with an 18-tool ATC, the live spindle makes complex drilling, tapping, milling and boring applications possible within a single part setup.
