The DT 360D/40 VMC from Doosan is designed primarily for high precision drilling and tapping. A sturdy, one-piece casting is heavily ribbed to help prevent distortion during heavy and interrupted cuts. Fine-grain Meehanite composition absorbs shock and vibration and helps dissipate heat. Linear guideways are widely spaced to provide support regardless of the table’s load distribution, and the table is supported by the saddle in all positions with no overhang. The 25.6” x 14.8” table supports 440.9 lbs per side. Rapid traverses are 1,889 IPM on all three axes. Power to the spindle is provided by a 7.5 HPACmotor that generates 35.4 ftlbs of low-end torque and drives 40 taper tools at speeds up to 12,000 RPM. Adrive belt is designed to eliminate slippage and vibration and further promote thermal stability. The 14 station armless ATC exchanges tools, chip to chip, in 2.7 seconds. The maximum length is 7.87” with a weight of 11.0 lbs. Positioning accuracy (full stroke) is +/- 0.0002”, with repeatability of +/-0.000080”. The hand-held manual pulse generator allows axis movements of x1, x10 or x100 for quick and easy part and fixture alignments. A Big Plus dual contact tooling system is optionally available.
