Custom-built for General Electric, Republic Lagun CNC has taken its Vertical Machining Center 4428 and incorporated a diamond dressing wheel. This allows for flexibility for complicated 5-axis milling and grinding and results in a Vertical Grinding Center, the VGC-4428. “We partnered with the grinding experts at Norton and St. Gobain to incorporate a dressing spindle that will crush-grind the grinding wheel in a matter of seconds,” said a company spokesperson. “This method of forming the shape of the grinding wheel ensures accurate and speedy production.” By utilzing the Nikken 5ax-200 trunnion table and the VGC’s highspeed 12,000 RPM dual-wound spindle motor, the machining center functions as both a milling and grinding center resulting in accurate machining. To ensure longevity of the grinding wheel, Republic Lagun incorporates a coolant filtration system that filters up to 10 microns.
