Milltronics offers the 8200 Series CNC controls on its line of flat bed combination and slant bed turning centers. While the 8200 CNC has been offered on Milltronics’ machining centers for some time, now the new control’s advantages are fully adapted to its lathes and turning centers. “The 8200 CNC offers quicker, greater number crunching capabilities that are especially critical for high-speed and multi-axis machining, along with increased parts memory storage of 1 GB,” said a Milltronics spokesperson. “The 8200 CNC offers all the userfriendly features thatMilltronics CNC controls are known for including compatibility with all G & M Code programs plus macro programming, auto routines, trig help and the benefits of conversational programming. “The 8200 CNC has a state-of-the-art user interface with wire frame and solidmodel graphicmodes standard. The processing speed of 2,000 blocks per second allows look ahead of actual machine position when executing so the operator can see where the tool is going before it gets there. Powerful graphics show the programmer the workpiece geometry as it will look when completed including where the tool is relative to the workpiece at all times. The Graphic Verify feature shows the operator the entire machining operation either in real time or in a dry run, each posting estimated runtimes including tool changes. The ‘Fast Verify’ feature allows the operator to run the program at 100 times actual run time,” said the spokesperson. In solid model graphic mode, material can be defined to show an existing ID. Transparent mode allows the operator to view internal machining tool paths. There are provisions for various tool shapes, i.e., diamond, grooving, drills and threading (dimensions for size, nose radius, mount angle). Solid Graphic verification supports threading and drilling (in X and Z). The 8200 CNC features third order motion control incorporating a jerk limiting algorithm in rapid, feed and high-speed look ahead. The operator can select characteristics to tailor motion control performance for specific applications that demand faster speeds or smoother operations. The algorithm enables smooth application of half G acceleration, reducing cycle times in part programs with high feedrates. File management convenience is enhanced on the 8200 CNC with USB and Ethernet networking capabilities.
