Designed for high-vol-ume medical applications, op-tics positioning, robot control, 3-D printers, gim-bals and hand held devices, the m i n i a t u re e n -coders come in four different shapes and pro-vide linear resolution up to 0.244 µm, or 753,664 CPR for rotary applications. Ren-ishaw will exhibit these encoders at sev-eral upcoming shows. The encoders consist of a minia-ture sensor and a magnetic scale or a ring. The sensors are available in a potted housing or as PCB board level sensors. Position information can be output in incremental quad-rature TTL or RS422, as well as par-allel in SSI and BiSS-C formats, with the option of a unique or peri-odic reference mark. “The industri-alized designs bring long-life, wear-free, low-inertia advantages to difficult applications and harsh environments,” said a company spokesperson.
