Chevalier Machinery will exhibit six new machines at IMTS. The new machines will be running their paces with experts on hand to answer any questions. Here is a rundown of the Chevalier’s six new machines: • FVM-4034DCL: The FVM-4034DCL offers bigger capacity, an automatic angular- head change and a five-face automatic tool change. The Series is designed for machining large parts with five-face machining applications. • FVL-1250VTC: The FVL-1250VTC Series vertical lathe is designed for heavy-duty turning applications. With the optional live tooling function, the series offers additional flexible machining capabilities to make more complex workpieces with one machine, the company said. • FBL-360: The newly designed FBL-360 45- degree slant bed turning center with rigid box ways structure and programmable tail stock is engineered with ease of access and trouble-free maintenance in mind, said Chevalier. The tool setters are intended to help reduce set-up times and keep non-machining times to a minimum. • FBL-510: The new FBL-510, designed for pipe threading and useful in the gas And oil industry, features a 22’ Lx 9.7’W size. The machine features dual-chuck capability with a 12.5” spindle bore diameter. The slant bed lathes can handle rough- and fine-turning operations. The three-speed gearbox provides enough horsepower for large diameter, heavyduty cutting. “Its structure, capacity, power and accessories underscore themachine’s ability to expertly and ruggedly handle various operations in an efficient, productivemanner,” said Chevalier National Sales Manager Herbert Hou. “The standard FANUC 0i-TD control features a 10.4 inch LCD color screen and a built-in Manual Guide I conversational program.” • FSG-ADIII: The new FSG-ADIII Series is an automatic-precision, surface-grindingmachine that is designed to offer improved accuracy, quality and ease of operation. This series includes the new touch-screen control station that is adjustable to a comfortable position for the operator. “Switches, buttons, LEDs and indicating lamps are all combined in a touch display that is ergonomically positioned to provide the best user-friendly operation,” said Chevalier Vice President Johnson Lan. The FSG-ADIII Series grinder includes a new PLC controller that provides a grind cyclewith rough grinding, fine grinding, spark-out passes and an automatic over-wheel dresserwith compensation, which can be added to fully automate the grind process. After the cycle is finished, the tablewill “park” either left or right of the saddle and at the front to facilitate unloading and loading. The spindle can be set to “stop running” or “continue running.” Thewheel head can also be set to return to the start position or to park at a reference point.Once the cycle is started, thewheel head will move rapidly to the start point and repeat the grind cycle. If material is required to be removed from both sides, “flip over” can be selected, so that the wheel head position is at the finish grind height, which will start grinding immediately without touching off. • SMART-B818III: The SMART-B818III grinder is capable of producingmicrofinishes of 5 RMS. The positioning accuracy is ± 0.0025micron and the grinding accuracy is 1 micron. The SMART’s movements are programmable in increments of 0.001mmand include a table size of 8” x 8”. The maximum distance from table to spindle centerline is 18” and wheel spindle is rated at 1,000-7,000 RPM and 3 HP. The SMART’s standard grinding wheel size is 8” x 1/2” x 1-1/4”. The machine weighs approximately 2,665 lbs., with dimensions of 80.9” x 82.36” x 82.7”.
