Systronix's recent expansion was ignited with two pivotal questions: "How can we economically expand our business and market reach so that we are able to provide a wider range of products and services to our customers? If we bring metalcutting capabilities in-house, will we succeed and will we have more of a competitive edge?" After thorough research, Systronix decided it was time to increase its efficiency and productivity by bringing full-scale manufacturing capabilities in-house. "Becoming a fully equipped manufacturing facility was clearly the best way forward. The Challenge? Choosing the right machine tools and turnkey solutions to make this a successful transition for Systronix as well as for our customers," said a company spokesperson. In November of 2012, Systronix brought in various engineering companies who all offered them cutting edge machines and support services. What they realized after meeting with these companies was that they needed a full turnkey solution for their family of OEMparts. DMGMORI / ELLISON TECHNOLOGIES proposed a full turnkey solution, which consisted of machine tools, bandsaw, programming, tooling, automation with bar feeders, and everything else that goes with it. By December of 2012 a plan was in place to begin building what would become a highly impressive manufacturing facility and the foundation for Systronix’s success today. The first task was to get the right machines in place. Systronix also needed to hire experiencedmachinists, quality control personnel and managers to get its shop up and running. They had a deadline to lay out the facility in three weeks. Ellison’s solution was to enable the Systronix’s team to be part of the process while also giving themthe time and space required to get their shop ready for manufacturing. While Systronix focused on finding the right people for its new shop, the Ellison teamworked diligently on turnkey solutions such as tooling, workholding and programming. By the end of December, all three machine tools, two DMG MORI NLX2500Y/700 and a DMG MORI DuraVertical 1035 eco, were delivered to the facility and were quickly up and running. Sandvik and several other vendors joined the project to get Systronix’s new manufacturing facility producing parts. By the middle of January 2013, three of the five OEMparts were being produced. The newmachinistsworked alongside the Ellison team to optimize their machining process for maximum throughput. Once February hit, Systronix, Inc. was a fully operational machine shop and was in full production of all five OEM parts. Since then, the Systronix team has watched their business boomin a competitive industry. In fact, business has been so good that they recently purchased six more machines from Ellison to expand their capacity. The first two machines, a DMG MORI NL2500SY/1250 and another DuraVertical 1035 eco with an integrated 4th axis DDRT 260 rotary table, have greatly improved Systronix’s working envelope and led to purchasing additional machines. The DMG MORI SL-403C/2000 is equipped with an automatic steady rest and increases the shop’s turning capability to 81.4” in length and up to a 24.4” diameter for heavy-duty cutting and turning abilities for larger parts. With simultaneous 5-axis machining capabilities and a large traveling column, the DMG MORI DMF260-Y1100 is ideal for producing long and complex parts. Their most recent machine additions are a DMG MORI DuraTurn 2050 and another NLX2500Y/700 that are dedicated to increasing i ts solenoid production output and adding additional capacity. The addition of these sixmachines has shown customers and potential clients that Systronix is an innovative company, which has resulted in opening more new doors. In 1990, Sys t ronix, Inc. was founded in Texas and provided engineering and contract manufacturing services for the oil and gas industry. As times have changed and the manufacturing industry continues to modernize, Systronix has also grown. Now operating out of a 50,000 square foot facility near Houston, it has expanded its services and offerings in addition to bringing CNC machining in-house rather than using outside contractors. By doing so, it has accelerated its manufacturing processes and is able to offer a wider range of products, all of which have opened new doors to providing world-class machining capabilities for the metalcutting industry. Originally focused on designing andmanufacturing electronic assemblies, solenoids, transformers and wire wound devices for demanding applications, Systronix is nowa fully equippedmanufacturing facility, making products for the energy, military, aerospace and industrial markets. “The partnership between DMG MORI / ELLISON TECHNOLOGIES and Systronix demonstrates that with modern turnkey solutions, advanced technology and by bringing complex machining in-house, new opportunitieswill arise,” said Gary Kerbow, President, Systronix, Inc. “There is no single solution, but Systronix improved its current production and expanded its offering as a full service contract manufacturer. Systronix made a bold decision to transform and expand its operation. That decision has contributed to its success today. This is an example of howexpanding capabilities and bringing machining in-house can lead to a new level of growth.Asmany manufacturers are gaining this insight, jobs are starting to come home from overseas. The manufacturing revolution has begun and partnerships like DMGMORI / ELLISONTECHNOLOGIES and Systronix are paving the road for success for years to come.” For more information contact: Gary Kerbow, President Systronix, Inc. 12700 West Airport Blvd. Sugar Land, TX 77478 281-240-0515 www.systronix-inc.com Southern CA DMG MORI Ellison Technologies - Los Angeles 9890 Pioneer Blvd. Santa Fe Springs, CA90670 562-949-8311 www.ellisontechnologies.com Northern CA DMG MORI Ellison Technologies - San Francisco 2607 7th St. Suite C Berkeley, CA94710 866-814-7238 www.ellisontechnologies.com WA, ID, MT DMG MORI Ellison Technologies - Seattle 19625 62nd Ave. South, Suite A109 Kent, WA98032 253-872-1661 www.ellisontechnologies.com OR DMG MORI Ellison Technologies - Portland 10159 SW Commerce Circle #K Wilsonville, OR 97070 503-682-3280 www.ellisontechnologies.com AZ DMG MORI Ellison Machinery Company 1610 S.
