Another challenge is improving tolerances. However both of these chal-lenges can be overcome by using high-performance lubricants. Using the right coolant or cutting fluid can improve surface integrity, a critical aspect of automotive and motor sports manufacturing. Certain lubricant additives can fill in the gaps, micro cracks and dislocations in fresh sur-faces. “Additionally, advanced lubri-cants are better able to regulate surface Continued on Page 25 Cutting Tools Thread Whirling Inserts Available with nine or 12 inserts for high output production with improved finish.... Melin Tool Company is now offer-ing its end mills to the U.S. market with the Haimer Safe-Lock System. The Safe-Lock design in cutting tools and toolholders combines high precision shrink fit clamping with a positive form locking mechanism. This prevents round cutting tools from being rotated or com-pletely pulled out from toolholders dur-ing heavy machining. “The combination of a symmetrical locking tool design with high concentricity and excellent balance Continued on Page 94 Heat Treating & Cryogenics Freeze Tool Expenses Increase the life of tools, dies, components ....
