The Takumi brand of CNC machines has been prevalent in Europe and Asia throughout the com-pany’s 30-year history. Expan-sion to the USA was made possible when the company set up a service and support network and showroom in Indianapolis earlier this year. Takumi USA will exhibit three 3-axis CNC ma-chines, all equipped with the FANUC 31i control: the VC0852 high precision machining center with fast rapids; the double column, high speed H-12 machine designed specifically for the die/mold and aerospace indus-tries; and the VC0852 machining center, which is built with heavy-duty box ways. The H-12 bridge-type double column CNC machining center will be the featured Takumi model at IMTS. This machining center is designed to provide enhanced Precision Technology Displayed at IMTS EDM Pavillion “Much has been written about the off-shoring of U.S. manufacturing, but some experts see a re-shoring trend due to the increasing demand for micro components produced by high precision EDM technol-ogy,” said an AMT -Association for Man-ufacturing Technology spokesperson. “The American machinist has higher expectations for quality, accuracy and pro-ductivity, and that attracts customers to the U.S. market,” said Gisbert Ledvon, Di-rector of Business Development, GF Ma-chining Solutions LLC, Lincolnshire, IL. “To find EDM technology that enables a Continued on Page 158 The International Manufacturing Technology Show September 12 -17, 2016 McCormick Place | Chicago South Building Hybrid Additive/Subtractive Machining System The machine concept combines a traditional CNC VMC with a spindle-adapted laser DED/powder feed nozzle. Micro-Vu measuring ma-chines magnify small features using an optical magnification range to 14X. On-screen mag-nification, using a 28” mon-itor, magnifies features to a range of approximately 1,000X, enabling visual inspection. “InSpec software is installed on a base of over 10,000 Micro-Vu measuring machines worldwide,” said a company spokesperson. The new version is available at no charge. The new version is standard on all new Micro-Vu ma-chines.
