At HOUSTEX, SMW Autoblok will feature its new BIG BORE BB-FZA 3+3 jaw air chucks that utilize three integrated centering jaws and three compensating jaws. With an extended jaw stroke of 1.5”, these chucks are designed for machining couplings as well as premium pipe threading and rethreading applications in the oilfield and down hole oil industry. BIG BORE BB-FZAchucks simplify the precision threading of irregular pipes. After a pipe is loaded into the chuck, the three centering jaws move forward axially to center the pipe exactly at the area to be threaded. The three compensating jaws then grip the pipe in the centered position, and the centering jaws retract axially into the chuck body. It is possible to fully automate this process for higher volume applications on compatible machine tools. BIG BORE BB-FZA chucks are available from stock in two sizes: 740 mm (29.1”) diameter with a 275 mm (10. 8”) through hole, and 920 mm (36. 2”) diameter with a 378 mm (14.9”) through hole.
