DMG Houston recently held an open seminar offering Houston area manufacturers a vocational hands-on ECO Training workshop featuring the CTX 310 ECO and the DMU 635 V ECO from the DMG ECOLINE series. The ECOLINE series was specially designed for the requirements of today’s small machine shop owners. In the North American machine tool market approximately twothirds are small machine shops. “The DMG ECOLINE series, designed specifically with the smal l job shop in mind, provides an ergonomic design with state-of-the-art control technology and component s . This series has valueadded features that we can offer our customers at no addit ional cos t ,” said John Vincent, Sales Director, DMG Houston. Highlights of CTX 310 ECO: • VDI 30 turret with 12 tool stations and up to six driven tools, • Digital drives and linear guideways in all axes [X/Z = 944.9 / 1,181.1 IPM.], • Automatic traversable tailstock for Machining flexibility, • Dynamicmotor spindle with 22.1 HP [40 percent DC], 122.8 ft./lbs. and 5,000 RPM, • Hollow clamping cylinder with Ø2.0 in. Bar capacity and hydraulic 3-jaw chuck in the standard version. Highlights of DMC 635 V ECO: • Milling spindle with 8,000 RPM, 61.2 ft./lbs. [40 percent DC], 17.4 HP, • Tool magazine for 20 tools with a fast double gripper, • Large, easily accessible work area [X/Y/Z = 25.0/20.1/18.1 in.] • 984.3 IPM rapid traverse and a 1.6 second tool exchange time, • C-frame design for excellent rigidity. Other machines demonstrated at the Open House were the DMU 50 3/5 axis CNC Universal Milling Machine, the CTX Beta 1250TC linear and CTX 510 CNC turning center. “The DMU series is the ideal foundation for entry into CNC universal milling, and offers high-tech components in a compact class,” said John Vincent. It features a powerful motor spindle with up to 18,000 RPM, 95.9 ft./lbs. and 46.9 HP motor, variable table options, integrated swivel rotary table and easy accessibility to the work area within smallmachine dimensions. “The CTX beta series represents a new dimension in universal turning providing precision turning in a large work area for medium-sized workpieces up to 16.1 in. Diameter. Y-axis and counter spindle are available as an option. The linear drive in the X-axis enables higher precision, higher productivity and dynamics (2,362.2 IPM rapid traverse).
