Summit Machine Tool recently added the HBMC-4 CNC Horizontal BoringMill to its array of horizontal and vertical boring mills. Summit HBMC-4 CNC Horizontal Boring Mills are highly accurate and versatile. “The HBMC-4 is an economically priced CNC horizontal boring mill that fills a gap between a simplemanual machine and themuch higher priced CNC m a - chines on the market. It’s a niche machine,” said James Brown, Sales Manager at Summit. This machine is designed to fulfill the requirements of a variety of machining needs, from roughing out a large component to drilling precisely tapered holes on a small surface, according to the company. The spindle is mounted on high precision angular contact ball bearings and is equipped with a 2-step gearbox for automatic spindle speed change. The spindle has an oil cooler for the lubrication circuit and temperature control and has an air curtain that effectively prevents fluid or chips from entering the spindle. The HBMC-4 also has a Servo driven built-in indexing table with a load capacity of 6,600 lbs. “The HBMC-4 CNC has features that are comparable to the higher priced CNC HBMs on the market, but it is priced below $300,000,” said Brown. The Summit HBMC-4 CNC combines the efficiency and accuracy of a CNC machine with the affordability of a manual machine resulting in a costeffective horizontal boring machine.
